BITS Pilani's Hyderabad campus is currently hosting the 16th edition of the International Conference on Sensor Technology (ICST) from December 18 to December 20, 2023. The three-day event serves as a platform for discussions and collaborations in the field of sensing technology, drawing the participation of 200 delegates from prominent institutions worldwide.
The inaugural session featured M. Srikanth, Mission Director for Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya-L1 missions at ISRO, providing insights into the intricate range of sensing systems and their integration in the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
Throughout the conference, 12 invited lectures aim to disseminate state-of-the-art research findings, accompanied by nearly 100 oral and poster presentations. Day two will include a panel discussion titled 'Women in Sensing Technology (WiSe),' and particular emphasis is placed on engaging young researchers, with planned awards to recognize students and early-career scientists.
Dr. Jagannath Nayak, Director of the Centre for High Energy System and Sciences (CHESS) at DRDO, presented an overview of the entire product development cycle of indigenously developed fiber-optic gyroscope-based sensors. Additionally, Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani, contributed to a special plenary talk. The conference underscores the importance of fostering collaboration and advancing knowledge in the dynamic field of sensor technology.
